先日、ジャスミンの話を書いたのだが、我が家には、ブルーベリーの木の植木鉢もある。

なにやら、2本以上を一度に栽培したほうが、交配されて、実が大きくなるということで、2本。

結構大きい。

これが、12月頃から花をつけ始め、今となっては、わんさかわんさか、花が咲いている。

花が終わったところには、ブルーベリーらしき形がみえてきている。

んで、これいつになったら、食えるんだ？一番最初の花が咲いたのが12月ごろなんで、かれこれ3ヶ月かかって、こんな感じの実って。。。

夏には色づいた実が食べれるのだろうか。。。なにせ、初めてなんでよくわからんです。とりあえず初年度は放置の方向で。。。

もっと、花を剪定して数を減らしたほうがいいのかなぁ。
どっちにしても、ちょっと枝が詰まりすぎちゃってるんで、来年の秋には剪定したほうがいいかなと。
剪定とか芽かきって良く解らん。もっと勉強せねば。

これも、鉢を買ったときのラベルを忘れないようにメモ。

Four Winds Blueberries

Jubilee

Upright, compact bush. Easy picking. Medium size clusters of sky blue berries ripen over 2 week period.

Blueberries are easily grown in containers of in the ground. Use an acidic (pH 4.5-5.5) soil mix of 60% ground conifer bark, 30% peat & 10% sand. Fertilize in late spring or summer. Avoid using nitrate based fertilizers. Use elemental sulfur to maintain pH. Keep the soil moist. In the ground, mulch with pine needles or wood chips in the fall. Prune 2 yr. old canes in winter. For highest yield, plant at least two varieties.
